Are we synchronized with the heart beat of the earth?

Here is a wild thought:  is it possible that we are in sync with our earth?  Is it possible that our physiology has evolved to be in tune with with the earth’s frequency?

Wait!  I am serious!  It is not as crazy as it sounds.  If we take a look at some of the frequencies in the human body, we see that our brain waves essentially vary from 0.5 Hertz (cycles per second) to over 100 Hertz.  These waves can easily be measured.  We in fact divide brain waves into (from lowest to highest) delta, theta, alpha, beta, and gamma waves.  The alpha waves are approximately 8-12 Hertz and represent the brain wave when we are awake but very relaxed.

Now, here comes the crazy part:  the earth has a measured background frequency too.  Any guesses as to what the base frequency of the earth is?  You guessed it – right around 8 Hertz!

So our relaxed brain waves are the same as the frequency of the earth!  This background frequency is known as Schumann Resonances.  The phenomenon was named after W.O. Schumann who first predicted and discussed it in 1950s. The peak intensity can be detected at  approximately 8 Hertz with lower intensity spikes at: 14, 20, 26, 33, 39, and 45 Hz.

So the Schumann resonance not only “resonates” with our alpha brain waves but also the  first four EEG bands :delta 0.5–3.5 Hz, theta 4–7 Hz, alpha 8–13 Hz, and beta 14 to 30 Hz.

This means that with the exception of high frequency and relatively less frequent gamma waves, our brains essentially match these intensity peaks of Schumann resonances!  Okay, but where do these Schumann resonances come from?

Believe it or not, the lightning strikes around the planet which occur at the rate of approximately 100 every second produce a background electromagnetic field that is trapped between the ionosphere and our surface.  There is essentially a dance of electromagnetic waves extending up 50-60 km.  Each lightning strike at approximately 100,000,000 volts and 10,000 – 100,000 amps creates this background frequency.

Some say that the similarities between our brain waves and the measured Schumann resonances are coincidence.  Even if this is the case, there is no doubt that by scientific fact, similar or opposite frequencies will summate or dampen respectively.  We are truly in tune with our planet!
